Learning to Play the Recorder in a Band
Our class formed a small band this term, and I play the recorder. We practice every Wednesday after school. At first, our music was messy— the drummer played too fast, and the guitarist missed chords. Our music teacher helped us adjust the tempo and practice together. I used to play the recorder alone, so it was new to cooperate with others. I learned to listen to the other instruments while playing. Last week, we performed “Jingle Bells” at the class party. The whole class clapped and sang along. I felt so proud when I finished playing. Playing in a band is more fun than playing alone. I learned the importance of teamwork. We plan to practice a pop song next and perform at the school’s art festival.
