A Rainy Day Reading a Book About Space
Last Sunday, it rained all day, so I read a book about space that Dad gave me. The book had amazing photos of the moon, Mars, and the Milky Way. I learned that the moon has craters from asteroids and that Mars has red dust storms. My favorite part was about the International Space Station—astronauts live there for months, eating freeze-dried food and sleeping in sleeping bags tied to the wall. I dreamed of being an astronaut, floating in space and looking at Earth. I drew a picture of a rocket and labeled the parts: “fuel tank,” “cockpit,” “engine.” When Dad came home, I told him everything I learned. He said, “If you study hard, your dream might come true.” Reading the book taught me that space is full of mysteries. I learned that books can take us to places we’ve never been.
