A Rainy Day Painting with Watercolors
Last Sunday, it rained all day, so I decided to paint with watercolors. I got my art supplies from the closet—watercolor paints, brushes, and thick paper. I wanted to paint the rainy scene outside my window: gray sky, wet sidewalk, and a red umbrella someone was holding. At first, the colors blended too much, making the sky look muddy. My mom said, “Let each layer dry before adding more color.” I tried again, and the sky looked soft and gray. I used bright red for the umbrella to make it stand out. I painted for two hours, listening to the rain tap against the window. When I finished, I hung the painting on my bedroom wall. My dad said it looked like a real artist’s work. Painting on a rainy day turned a boring afternoon into something fun. I learned that mistakes can be fixed with patience. Next time it rains, I’ll paint a rainbow over the rainy scene.
